Following this tutorial from Adafruit (https://learn.adafruit.com/gemma-hoop-earrings), I finally finished making these light-up earrings. I started the project by purchasing materials about 3-4 years ago. As I enter my senior year of MIT, I'm inspired to actually start finishing and wrapping up projects I've carried on for far too long. I learned important lessons about bootloaders and LiPoly battery polarity along the way :)
I am an undergrad TA for the Illuminations seminar (learn.illuminations.mit.edu) for the Fall 2022 semester. Led by Chris Peterson, MIT director of special projects, and Victor Hung, we advise first year students on the hardware and software and artistic design behind individually addressable LEDs used in light shows. This culminates in a final project making a light design for the $300k LED system in the new MIT Welcome Center, to be displayed. These earrings are part of my enthusiasm for all thing blinky lights and the first class of a dream position.
